Amalekites

The Amalekites were a nomadic people who inhabited the desert regions south of Canaan. They are remembered as the first to attack the Israelites after the Exodus, striking at the weak and weary.

This unprovoked attack led to a perpetual enmity, with Israel commanded to blot out the memory of Amalek. King Saul’s failure to completely destroy them contributed to his rejection as king.
