The Israelites are the descendants of Jacob (Israel), comprising the twelve tribes named after his sons. They are central to the narratives of all three Abrahamic faiths.

Their history includes enslavement in Egypt, the Exodus under Moses, receiving the Torah at Sinai, the conquest of Canaan, the period of judges, the united monarchy under Saul, David, and Solomon, and the eventual division into two kingdoms.

In Islamic tradition, the Israelites (Bani Isra’il) are frequently mentioned in the Quran as recipients of divine guidance and prophets.
