Moabites

The Moabites were descendants of Moab, son of Lot and his elder daughter. They inhabited the plateau east of the Dead Sea, often in conflict with Israel.

Despite the general prohibition against Moabites entering the assembly, Ruth the Moabite became an ancestor of King David and, through him, of Jesus. The Moabite Stone provides important archaeological evidence of this people.
