Sadducees

Homeland: Judea

The Sadducees were a Jewish religious and political group, largely consisting of the priestly aristocracy. They rejected belief in resurrection, angels, and oral tradition, accepting only the written Torah.

They controlled the Temple and Sanhedrin and collaborated with Roman authorities. The movement ceased to exist after the Temple’s destruction in 70 CE.
