Samaritans

Homeland: Samaria

The Samaritans emerged after Assyria conquered the Northern Kingdom and settled foreigners in the region. They accept only the Pentateuch and worship on Mount Gerizim rather than Jerusalem.

Though Jews considered them outsiders, Jesus engaged positively with Samaritans. A small Samaritan community survives today in Israel and the West Bank.
