Edict of Milan (Christianity legal)

313 CE

Edict of Milan

Emperors Constantine and Licinius issued the Edict of Milan, ending the persecution of Christians and granting religious tolerance throughout the Roman Empire.

This marked a turning point for Christianity, which transitioned from a persecuted minority to an officially recognized religion. Constantine would later convene the Council of Nicaea (325 CE) to address theological disputes.
