First Olympic Games

The first recorded Olympic Games were held at Olympia in Greece, establishing a four-year cycle (Olympiad) that Greeks would use to reckon dates for centuries.

The games were held in honor of Zeus and represented the cultural unity of the Greek city-states, foreshadowing the Hellenistic influence that would later impact Judea.
