Marriage of Abdullah and Aminah

Around 569 CE, Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib (approximately 23 years old) married Aminah bint Wahb (approximately 18 years old) in Mecca. The marriage was arranged by Abdullah’s father, Abd al-Muttalib, uniting two of the noblest clans of the Quraysh tribe—the Hashim and Banu Zuhra families. The union was celebrated as a joining of distinguished lineages, with both bride and groom descended from Arabia’s most prominent families. The marriage proved tragically brief: Aminah conceived Muhammad shortly after the wedding, but Abdullah departed on a trade journey while she was pregnant and never returned, dying in Yathrib (Medina) during the journey. Aminah became a widow before childbirth, destined to raise her prophetic son alone for his first six years before her own death left him doubly orphaned.
