Ehud
Ehud
Left-handed judge who assassinated Eglon, the obese king of Moab, by concealing a sword on his right side. Led Israel to victory over Moab, bringing 80 years of peace.
A member of the tribe of Benjamin, Ehud delivered Israel from 18 years of Moabite oppression. Using his left-handedness as an advantage—guards didn’t expect weapons on the right side—he gained a private audience with King Eglon under the pretense of delivering tribute. After the assassination, he rallied the Israelites at the hill country of Ephraim and captured the fords of the Jordan, preventing Moabite reinforcements from escaping.
