Hezekiah

One of Judah’s most righteous kings, who “trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah” (2 Kings 18:5). He removed idolatry, destroyed the high places, and centralized worship in Jerusalem. When Assyria’s Sennacherib besieged Jerusalem with overwhelming force, Hezekiah prayed in the Temple; the prophet Isaiah declared God would defend the city, and an angel struck down 185,000 Assyrian soldiers (2 Kings 19:35). When later struck with mortal illness, Hezekiah prayed and was granted fifteen additional years of life (2 Kings 20:1-11).
