Hud

An Arabian prophet mentioned in the Quran, sent to the ancient people of ʿĀd. He called them to abandon idolatry and worship God alone. When they rejected his message, they were destroyed by a devastating wind. The eleventh surah of the Quran bears his name. Some scholars tentatively identify him with the biblical Eber, ancestor of the Hebrews.
