James son of Alphaeus

One of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Called “James the Less” to distinguish him from James son of Zebedee. Son of Alphaeus, possibly the same Alphaeus who was father of Matthew. Little is recorded about him in scripture. Tradition says he preached in Syria and Persia.
