Lazarus

Brother of Mary and Martha of Bethany. Close friend of Jesus. Became ill and died; Jesus arrived four days after burial and raised him from the dead in one of the most dramatic miracles. His resurrection foreshadowed Jesus’ own. After this, religious leaders plotted to kill both Jesus and Lazarus. Tradition says he became bishop of Cyprus.
