Martha

Sister of Mary of Bethany and Lazarus, who hosted Jesus in her home in Bethany. Known for being “worried and upset about many things” while serving, contrasted with Mary who sat at Jesus’s feet (Luke 10:38-42). When Lazarus died, Martha met Jesus and made a profound confession of faith: “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world” (John 11:27)—one of the clearest messianic declarations in the Gospels. She exemplifies both active service and faithful confession.
