Noah
Also known as: Nuh
The only righteous man in a corrupt generation, chosen by God to preserve life through the Great Flood. At divine command, Noah built an ark—450 feet long, 75 feet wide, 45 feet high—and brought his family and pairs of every animal aboard before the waters destroyed all other land creatures. After the flood receded, God established a covenant with Noah, promising never again to destroy the earth by water, with the rainbow as its sign. Through his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah became ancestor of all post-flood humanity. After the flood, Noah blessed and cursed his sons based on their response to his nakedness. In Islam, Nuh is honored as one of the major prophets, with an entire surah (Surah Nuh) devoted to his story.
