Saul

First king of Israel, chosen for his height and humble beginnings. Started well but repeatedly disobeyed God—sparing the Amalekite king, offering unauthorized sacrifice, consulting a medium. God rejected him as king. His jealousy of David consumed his later years. Died alongside his sons fighting the Philistines.
