Simon the Zealot

One of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Called “the Zealot,” possibly indicating former membership in the Zealot movement that resisted Roman occupation, or simply meaning he was zealous for the Law. Little is recorded about him in scripture. Tradition says he preached in Egypt, North Africa, and Persia, where he was martyred.
