Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib

Uncle of Muhammad, son of Abd al-Muttalib. Wealthy merchant who initially opposed Islam but converted around the Conquest of Mecca in 630 CE. His descendants founded the Abbasid Caliphate (750-1258 CE). Father of renowned scholar Abdullah ibn Abbas.
