Muhammad

Prophet of Islam and founder of the Muslim community. Orphaned young, became a successful merchant known for honesty. At 40, received the first revelation of the Quran from the angel Jibril (Gabriel). Preached monotheism in Mecca for 13 years, facing persecution. Migrated to Medina (the Hijra, 622 CE) where he established the first Islamic state. Conquered Mecca in 630 CE. Delivered his Farewell Sermon and died shortly after. Muslims consider him the final prophet, completing the message of all previous prophets.
