Transfiguration of Jesus

~30 CE (approximate)

Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain where he was transfigured before them—his face shining like the sun and his clothes becoming dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared, speaking with him about his coming departure (exodus) in Jerusalem.

Peter offered to build three tabernacles, but a bright cloud overshadowed them and a voice declared: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” The appearance of Moses (representing the Law) and Elijah (representing the Prophets) confirmed Jesus as the fulfillment of Scripture.
