Nahor

Brother of Abraham and Haran. Son of Terah. Unlike Abraham, Nahor remained in Mesopotamia rather than journeying to Canaan.

Family

Nahor married Milcah, who was the daughter of his brother Haran. Through this marriage, Nahor became the grandfather of Rebekah, who would later marry Isaac, and Laban, father of Rachel and Leah.

Significance

Though Nahor himself plays a minor role in the biblical narrative, his descendants are crucial to the patriarchal stories. The “city of Nahor” mentioned in Genesis 24:10 is where Abraham’s servant found Rebekah as a wife for Isaac.
