Tribe of Benjamin

Also known as: Benjaminites

Homeland: Benjamin (central Canaan)

The tribe descended from Benjamin, youngest son of Jacob and Rachel. Benjamin’s territory included Jerusalem (before David captured it) and was strategically located between north and south.

King Saul, Israel’s first king, was a Benjaminite. The apostle Paul also identified as a Benjaminite. After the kingdom divided, Benjamin remained with Judah in the Southern Kingdom.
