Quraysh

The Quraysh were the dominant tribe of Mecca, guardians of the Kaaba. The Prophet Muhammad was born into the Banu Hashim clan of Quraysh.

Initially opposing Muhammad’s message, most Quraysh eventually accepted Islam after the conquest of Mecca. The first four caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali) were all Qurayshi.
