Gospel

Also known as: Injil, Evangelion, Good News, New Testament Gospels

Gospel

The “good news” of Jesus Christ. In Christianity, refers to both the message of salvation and the four canonical accounts of Jesus’s life and teachings.

In Christianity

The four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) record Jesus’s ministry, death, and resurrection. They form the core of the New Testament and are considered divinely inspired accounts of God’s redemptive work through Christ. The term also refers broadly to the Christian message of salvation.

In Islam

The Injil is acknowledged as a revelation given to Jesus (Isa). Muslims believe the original Injil was God’s word, but hold that the current Gospel texts have been altered. The Quran references the Injil as confirming the Torah and foretelling Muhammad’s coming.
