Bethuel

Son of Nahor and Milcah, nephew of Abraham, and father of Rebekah and Laban. He lived in Paddan-aram (Mesopotamia) in the region of Haran. When Abraham’s servant arrived seeking a wife for Isaac, Bethuel was present but his son Laban led the negotiations for Rebekah’s betrothal, suggesting Bethuel was elderly or infirm (Genesis 24). Through Rebekah, Bethuel became grandfather of Jacob and Esau; through Laban, grandfather of Rachel and Leah—linking him to Israel’s founding generations.
